It can be any movie and the aliens don't know anything about the human race.

What a great question. The more I think about it, the harder it is to answer. I keep thinking about The Abyss, which does actually involve aliens and shows them how we can be selfless, how we feel love, and how we accept that we're a disaster for this planet, but there's no humour in it and I think our humour characterises us as least as much as anything else.
I'd like to show them It's A Wonderful Life but it's incomplete in the same way. Perhaps I'd show them a kid's film as it may be easier to relate to. Although films about our feelings about aliens might be easier to relate to also. Actually, I've got it. Flight of the Navigator. That shows all aspects of humanity, is funny, shows both familial love and (potential) romantic love, includes aliens, science, the relationship between adults and children, and our need for "home".
