Here in America, we like to call the black-powder that is left from a burning: "Ash". So yes, burning bread will produce ash, just as burning wood would do.
Well, they would look like the same since what that black powder is ash which is the remaining components of something when it is burned. But it's substances is different. But from you visual eye it's the same. So Yeah The same thing would happen.
