It’s a stuffed seal and the upper body portion of the seal of about the same width of a pillow. However it’s not as long and high. I’ve slept with the seal for years but I also have a lot of back pains espically when I try to lay down, I really don’t like pillows anymore and I can’t hold them in my sleep like I can my seal, it just feels weird and makes it hard for me to sleep. Would the stuffed animal really be the problem or could it be the mattress or just me?

The seal could be the reason for your back pain. Pillows should be replaced every 6 months. You could be responsible for your own pain.
"If you have a plain-old, inexpensive polyester pillow, you should be replacing it every six months,” says Michael Breus, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and author of the book Good Night. “But if you have a memory foam pillow or any one with structural integrity, it'll last you anywhere from 18 to 36 months.”

I spent years trying to find a good pillow. I finally found one that cost fifty bux and lasted about six months before going flat. When I went back to buy another, the store no longer carried that brand. So I rebelled and took the opposite approach: I bought the cheapest pillow I could find, two for twenty bux at Amazon, filled with duck feathers. They came with printed instructions saying to wash in warm water and mild soap, then tumble dry for an hour or so, and to repeat that treatment any time they seemed to go flat. I have been using one pillow for four years now and I have fluffed it maybe four or five times. I haven't used the other one yet. The price has risen a bit.

As for your back, backs are not supposed to hurt all the time. Bones are made of calcium and magnesium, with vitamin D required in the process. Pads between discs are made of vitamin C. You can get all those things in pills or in food, and you really should study some books about nutrition so you know how to eat right.
