I reside in georgia . ill be moving into alabama in the next few weeks . The alabama dmv site says that it is only required of me to hold a learners permit for 6 months before going on to get a REAL license , which is better than 12 months in georgia . When i transfer the permit from state to state im aware that the issue day will change to the exact day. Although im uncertain that my original issue date from georgia is recognized by the dmv. Does transferring my permit restart me or will the time i spent holding the permit in georgia count towards getting my license in alabama?

No, it should not restart your time. When you go into the DMV they will likely honor the time base off of your old Class E license (permit). If you want to know for sure, though, they should have a contact phone number or email right on their website so that you can get a definitive answer right from the source.
