My friend is planning on leaving the state but leaving his car with me but keeping the title in his name he paid 800$ for it but it needs 2000-3000$ worth of repairs done if I paid for all the repairs can I legally own the car

i would see what kinda deal you could make your friend on it is he leaving the state for a specific amount of time or is it on a pro longed amout of time but if you make repairs just ask him if you could have it should be able to make some kinda deal i would just see what you can work out
i would have him write something out to that extent it covers you that way
