Will eating less calories per day but eating mostly carbs and empty calories cause your weight loss to be any different than eating more, healthier, filling foods?

Your body utilizes unhealthy foods and healthy differently. You could loose weight if you are taking in a lower amount of calories on a regular basis. It's unlikely that you would build nice lean muscle though. Eventually you will plateau and gain weight again.
It's better to eat healthy foods and fit in those unhealthy meals sporadically. :-)
