I bought a 'helper' math sheet from my friend for a buck. He has no license (copyright, trademark, etc.) to it and he doesn't want me to copy it. If I own the physical copy now, isn't it fine for me to print copies and give them out for free? There was no contract but a verbal one and he does not want me printing copies because he handwrote it and thinks he could make more money from other people if I don't give it to them for free (he probably won't though).

So you bought it for a dollar and he doesn't want you copy it i would make him some type of deal where he is making some cash from it the way to do that is to go around. See how many would pay a dollar to one firty for a copy of the math paper this way he isn't out any money and your not giving them a way free.
True but it sounds like your friend doesn't want that to happen.
The thing is I want others to have it for free, I don't want to make any money off of it. I don't want others to have to pay.
