Hi,
If an anorexic refuses to eat during a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold or in a treatment center, is he/she given a supplement drink like Ensure, or is he/she tube fed?
Is the anorexic only tube fed if he/she refuses to eat or drink a supplement drink?
If an anorexic is tube fed, how many calories does he/she receive daily from the feeding tube?
I hope anorexics don't get very many calories from a feeding tube daily.

Well I would imagine, as the point of going to a treatment center is to cure the anorexia and return the individual to health then all food, whether normal or through the tube would have maximum possible calories to return the person to their healthy weight range as quickly as possible. There would be no point giving them low calorie food when your aim is to have the gain weight.
I couldn't tell you what the exact calorie count would be, it would depend on the individual and be affected by a number of medical variables.
