Since the light that we see from faraway galaxies are supposed to be millions of light years old?

No. Nothing travels back in time.
But when you speak of a "far away galaxy", you need to remember that we don't actually know how far away the next galaxy is. The longest ruler we have is the Earth's orbit. By triangulating we can measure things out to about 3200 light-years. Beyond that, we are guessing. That is why when you look up the biggest stars, sizes are very uncertain beyond 3200 light-years. So we don't actually know how far any galaxy is.
