If a guy who I don't know very well I'm starting to develop feelings for isn't very bright in schoo?

well he may just need a positive influence in his life he probably doesn't have that at this point mabe if he felt better about who he is he might be able to flurish in a round about way and it might give him the boost he needs to take his education by the horns so to speak and do something about it rather then let it get out of control where you can't do anything about it so it could be just what he needs to feel good about his self that mainly opens the door to bigger and better things
