Back shows Bastian Bros Co., Rochester, NY. We never knew our father to fish but his name is typed on paper and inserted in the bar. The medallion is rectangular, about 1 5/16 in wide and 1 1/8 in tall. Believe it to be bronze but don't know for sure. Rather heavy. The ribbon is approx 1 3/4 in long and 1 5/8 in wide. Dad and Mom are both dead and when we found this we were curious as to the occasion and approximate period of time he got it. There was apparently a pin on the back of the bar but it is gone. Can anyone help us identify the period of time and occasion where Dad would have worn this? Dad was a labor foreman in the steel mill so see no connection there but he was a boy scout leader in the 1940's and was in the CCC in the early 1930's.

Sure spunds like he won a Bass Fishing contest,I suspect either as a Scout or CCC. Run a search on that company & ask them about it & if no longer there, try the Public Tv program (PBS ) their "Detectives (History Detectives) will use your object to track down the history of it & put the story on PBS stations.
