how do you not catch feelings?

You can't eliminate feelings, you are not a robot and nothing would turn you into a robot. Running away from problems usually doesn't make things better, facing them head on with different tools will be better. There are loads of ways to deal with negative, sad, difficult feelings and sort problems/stress and better cope with life's challenges:
-Anti-depressants
-Meditation
-Therapy (Counselling, Hypnotherapy, CBT, and so on)
-Supplements: St John's wort, vit B....
-Exercise
-New hobbies, new interests, new life goals, new friends, new work opportunities
-Sorting and organising debt, lose ends, removing triggers, removing bad influence people etc
I hate it when people all too often say "you've got to face your problems" and such generic suggestions. It's hypocritical when said people clearly don't alter their own behaviour on a regular basis. So I'm not gonna do that.
Per my observations, the strongest & uncontrollable emotions stem from an inability to accept an aspect of reality. The more one understands how reality came to be as it is, the less unjust it tends to feel, and the better one can adapt themselves to it, or manipulate it. Not all situations should be accepted. However, from a place of understanding you might not be as helpless and reliant on someone's goodwill to change it. Walking away can be a viable solution if you know what that entails, have a realistic plan. Distractions are also effective. And even if taking a stand isn't one's natural tendency, a bluff of confidence goes a long way in society.
Plz do not vote me down, I do not know what to say. and I am trying my best.
