I had a interview on Wednesday 8/3 and I didn't get the job. I'm perplexed about it. I thought that I did a great job with my interview. We laughed, interacted well and she even mentioned that I gave the best answers to her questions from the 5 candidates she interviewed. I had a recommendation letter from my former supervisor and I followed it up with a post interview email explaining how I was thankful for being selected and I hammered home why I would be the best candidate to select. So first thing Thursday 8/3 morning I get a email from her stating it was a hard decision but I wasn't selected. I replied to her initial email thanks and I wish her and her new department the best. She replied that she liked my personality/energy , but due to my drive(ambition), the position wouldn't be a good fit for me. Mind you, she specifically stated in the interview that she didn't want someone who was just going to get the position and just collect a check and not looking to grow. She wanted someone that will bring something to the table. So my email reply was I might have came off as overly ambitious but that comes from a desire to gain employment and to help a company excel. Then she replied that I didn't come off as overly ambitious and it was a hard decision and that she wanted me in a position that I will grow in as well as thoroughly enjoy. So now I'm even more perplexed. I'm bummed because I been on a lay-off since January and out of the numerous interviews I been on, I feel that this interview was my best one. I wanted to get with this company because of the growth opportunities, top-notch benefits package and great salary. What do you guys think happened? Thanks in advance and keep me in your prayers.
