When I was in high school, I was on a phone call with a guy I was crushing on at the time and I started to drift off. I was so tired and I couldn't stay awake, so half of our phone conversation consisted of me talking to him in my sleep without him even realizing it. At one point in the conversation, I started to dream of Hello Kitty in space. Suddenly I woke up in a wild panic and screamed into the phone, "HELLO KITTY, GET OUT OF THE BUBBLE!!!!" We were both silent for what seemed like forever.
I have moments like these often due to my insomnia.
It's not uncommon to ramble on about strange things when you're overtired. What you are most likely experiencing is called hypnagogia cognition. The difference between this and normal, alert wakefulness is that with hypnagogia cognition, one has a heightened suggestibility, is illogical and has a fluid association of ideas. Many artists, scientists and inventors who have experienced this have used such ideas to enhance their creativity or solve a problem that they couldn't when fully awake.
Whether or not your ramblings on lasers or my cartoon outbursts have any meaning, it is slightly entertaining.
