... dollars worth of stuff and they added it up together,are we both gonna get the penalty of stealing 600 and something dollars together,or is it gonna be separate when we go to court

Stealing is not right. In the modern days you are almost certain to get caught unless you are a professional. You will receive prison time probably at least one month. And it will be seperate he will get his punishment for what he stole and you will get yours
