I've been wanting to learn an Asian language for quite some time now, it's always been an interest of mine. Anyway I've decided I'd like to learn Japanese, I'm willing to put a lot of effort in learning the language I'm just unsure on where to actually start.

A good place to start is to buy a lot of books and audio CDs to learn from so at least you know that basics. I recommend buying a katakana and hiragana chart to study from and perhaps some memory cards. If you want to take it further you should look online for any Japanese lessons near you. Make sure you have some money saved up for these. These won't last forever but should be very productive. If u wanted you could apply for Japanese language at university. Having had Japanese lessons would look very good when applying. If you don't want to go to university then I suggest you go abroad to Japan. Spending time in the country will be most beneficial to your language learning. You could join a program or go on your own for a certain amount of time using the appropriate visa.
