Take acting classes at school so you can learn to act like a not-shy person. Study vocal skills such as story telling and/or public speaking so that you have a good voice and you know it. Go to the library and ask the librarian to help you find some books on public speaking, especially conversation starters. You will memorize a lot of lines to start a conversation and keep it going. If you are male, go to a bookstore and ask for Elizabeth Browning. Girls like that stuff. If you are a girl, take a home economics class. The modern attitude is against cooking and housework, but if you don't have any other talents, it's easy enough to learn to cook. Go to a church on Wednesday evening. You don't have to believe anything. Every church does something different, so if one is not interesting you can go to another one. Don't tell them about your problems, just say you heard you could meet some nice people.
