I have some kitchen knives but these are too dull. So, what should I do? Buy a new knife or buy a new sharpener?

This and other flicks will teach you what "sharp" means and how to get it. There are three processes. Grinding removes metal. Ticketing means rubbing a hard steel against the blade to straighten the edge. Stropping only applies to razors. Get a diamond sharpener: it is the best. It does not have to be the expensive powered model. Something like this: www.amazon.com/Chefs-Choice-Select-Diamond-Sharpener/dp/B008EMFQ8C/ref=sr_1_24
The only other factor is whether the knife will take a sharp edge. You just have to see what happens.
