I've been wanting a Parakeet (Budgie), but my parents said no. So I wet online and did five pages of research on EVERYTHING about the species. I also told my parents I would pay for the bird's care and I added up the total cost and even showed them my money as proof. No matter what I do, they wont say yes! My mom said it's because she knows she'll end up taking care of it, but that's not true! I don't know how to convince my parents to let me get one. They think I'm lying when I say that I'll take care of it, even though I am always responsible, taking care of our dog, doing homework, getting straight A's. What can I do??

Aww! Parakeets are awesome! :D I have been a similar situation recently. Here's what happened:
I really wanted a hamster! Mom said "no dog" and "no cat" and "no bird." So hamsters were my only option. My mom said, "Last time you had gerbils I ended up caring for them." (which is true xP)
So I suggested that I would wash the dishes every evening for 4 weeks, to show that I'm responsible enough. That way, if I lost interest in the hamster idea, I'd stop doing the dishes, and we'd just drop the whole thing. The agreement was made!
Maybe you want to suggest something like this? You could change the chore and shorten the time if you like.
Good luck!
P.S.
If this doesn't work out let me know and I'll figure something out. :)
