I really want a kitten for Christmas. I am 11 years old, and we have a cat already who is 6. But I think getting a kitten would be a good idea, and it would show my parents how responsible I am. I have two older sisters who think a kitten would be a good idea. So my question is, how do I get my parents on my side? They aren't saying yes or no, they definitely are not saying no to the idea, but they aren't saying anything about a yes either. What do I do?

Christmas is the worst time to get a new pet, the noise, the strangers, the fact that you are going to be out and about and not present all means the pet will be highly disturbed. Wait until after new year when you can give the pet the attention is deserves in order to be made to feel welcome into it's new family. I'd hold off on the idea and approach your parents later about it. The fact they haven't said yay or nay means they are open to the idea. As said before, look to adopt a kitten rrather than buy and make sure you choose a good time to adopt as well. The new cat will need a lot of attention and affection and christmas is all kinds of wrong for that.
It all takes patience, you can't expect to get a kitten when you say you want it. Kittens bite, scratch, ruin furniture, keep you up all night. Not appropriate for a young child your age. I asked for a dog when I was seven and my parents didn't get me the dog until 7 years later when I was responsible enough, and could come home during the day to take it for walks. Relax, there's a time for everything and I'm sure that you will get something else on Christmas morning that you will still be happy about! If you don't obsess over it all the time you may just forget about it, trust me a lot of people get a kitten and couple months later they don't care anymore, it happens.
Thanks, but I wanted to know how I could convince my parents to get( I didn't mean buy, I wanted to get one from the humane society) a kitten, not to not get a kitten
