I used semi permanent cooper brown in my hair. It is reddish brown. How can I get it the full color?

My primary hair color is a dark blackish brown. Am I not using enough of the hair dye to get it to that full hair color. I just want to get it to full copper brown. Which is basically red. Any suggestions and help is appreciated.
