I need someone who actually knows what they're talking about. Recently a friend and I found part of a skull that appeared to be from a small canine (teeth matched up). We wanted to find the rest of the bones so we searched around the woods for a while and found more bones, more like a trail of bones. The first we found was about a foot long, and we followed and searched the field and found many more, as well as skulls from rabbits and other small mammals. We also found huge canine tracks. I read that wild canines walk in a straight path while domestic canines walk erratically and not in a straight line and that's how you can tell the difference between domestic and wild, and the tracks were in a clear path down the hill. They were recent (it had been raining on and off most of the day and they were extremely clear), and some of the bones we found still had chunks of meat on them. The tracks looked too big to be coyote and I am assuming the larger bones are from a deer, so I am not sure whether to think what we have found here is the feeding ground of a wolf or coyote? I have also heard howling sometimes late and night, and members of my family and I have seen huge dog-like creatures walking in the field and in the trees. I am a bit afraid to return to the woods, where I usually walk my own dog. If someone could give me a good answer to what we've found, seen, and heard, it would really ease my mind. Thank you.
I think I might have found a wolf den?
