I went to the dentist and they told me i need braces. i was really happy because i wanted braces to fix up my gap tooth and apparently i have an overbite and an crossbite. I was told to wait for a letter, and it took 2 MONTHS to come. infact, it came today. it said that they are going to set an appointment for me, and that i have to wait 12 months for my appointment!!!!!!!!!! :( what will they do? after the firts appointment, will it take another 12 months for another appointment or will it be sooner? How many months overall will i have to wait to actually get the braces on my teeth? Thanks for your help!

Ok, the short answer is, after the 12 months, you'll have your first appointment with the authordentist and then you'll wait maybe 4/5 weeks and have another one. Usually the first one is an examination too see what teeth need to move where etc and the second one will either be another check up or a double check. After that, it depends if you require teeth to be pulled out or if your good to go straight onto the braces. I had to have teeth extracted. This means I had to go to the dentist and have them out, then wait 2 months for the holes to heal. It's currently the 17th of January and on Friday I'm getting braces! I was also on the waiting list for 12 months.
I know your eager to get the braces but it's worth the wait because then you get them free on the NHS. If you wanted them ASAP, you could go private but it costs about £2500 (maybe more!)
Hope this helped x
