I'm not sure if he likes me he said about 5months ago that he sorta liked me and he said I was hot. I'm a year younger and I live in another state but I see him 3 times a year. When we went to the beach we played tackle football and he would just pick me up and hold onto me and not let go. He's my cousins best friend and Im super close with my cousin. This kid is so nice to my parents and little brother.does he like me? Should I like him?

It appears that he likes you. Coming from a guy, the not letting you go during tackle football sounds like he does. There could be a lot going through his mind about dating you though, that you'll have to address before anything can happen. First off, he is your cousin's best friend. That can be a huge red flag for a guy. He may not be sure what his best friend would think if he were dating his cousin. Dating family members of close friends can really mess things up, but it can also be a good thing in the long run. Because you are so close, I would talk to your cousin about it and make sure that things wouldn't become weird between all of you - no matter what happens. Then there's the distance issue. You didn't specify what state you lived in and which he lived in, but going by the "3 times a year" statement, I'm going to assume that it's far enough that dating MAY be an issue. Long term relationships suck. When I was younger, I fell in love with a girl from Duluth - I live in North Dakota. We talked constantly and we had everything in common. However, it would've been a sizable trip to see her (a good 7 hour drive I believe) and I still didn't have my license yet. To this day, we will still talk occasionally. We're both in college now - Me at UND and her at UMD. Last I heard she has a boyfriend now, and I have a girlfriend. As far as you and this guy, it may come down to how often you can see each other. You don't want to start something if you can only see each other 3 times a year. However, that's something that you two would have to make a mutual decision on. I hope that you follow your heart though - There are still times that I wonder what could have been with the girl from Duluth.
