I have self rising flour. I know that each cup has 1 and 1/2 tsp of baking powder. my recipe calls for 3 and 1/3 cups of plain flour with 1 and 1/2 tsp baking soda with no baking powder!! Any advice to get same good result??

You might get away with it. There's a limit to how much of a rise you can get. You generally limit the baking powder/soda so that the end result doesn't taste of it (or perhaps you only want a light rise). You can use self-raising flour if the recipe is for something that is going to rise well (i.e. bread). Don't use it if it's something you want a limited rise out of.
Or you could always do what I do and experiment to see what happens. Some of the nicest things I cook, I found by accident. :)
With a cake like that, you can probably get away with it because if your cake is lighter and airier than expected, it won't really matter. You wouldn't get away with it with biscuits or cookies but cake should be fine.
I will try then. Thank you a lot. :)
Actually my recipe is for a red velvet cake! Can I go with it or better to avoid? Thnx alot for helping.
