I need to know the styles of TVs. Don't they have specific names for TV styles back then like we do? We can differentiate from a CRT television and a flat screen. Style is one of my topics about TVs in the 1930s. Please help. Writing essays belongs in my Worst Nightmares section.

The first tv picture was transmitted in 1922, but the business of television did not take off until 1950 or thereabouts. Style was not a concern: there were only two ways to build a tv: console and portable. A portable tv had a steel cabinet with a handle on top and weighed fifty pounds or so. They only had tubes, not transistors, so you could not keep a goldfish bowl on top of the tv. The heat would kill the fish. Flat screen was invented only about fifteen years ago. Before that crt was the only way to produce a picture.
