Astigmatism is a defect of vision in which the optics of the eye are unable to focus a point object into a sharp image on the retina. It might be due to the irregular curvature of the cornea or the lens.
Astigmatism is of two types; regular and irregular. Regular astigmatism is more common, while the rare irregular astigmatism is caused by scarring in the cornea or scattering in the lens.
