I'm 14 years old. I've been dancing since I was 10 years old and I've gotten pretty good, but I've only trained my skills in freestyling. I've recently been trying to get into actual choreography. I started somewhere late 2012. I've done a few okay choreographies to I think three songs but I sometimes get blocked and can't get creative enough to continue with the piece. I appreciate anyone who tries to help.

In anything creative, you'll find that you hit a block. I've wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember but I often used to hit a block. What used to help me was to stop focussing on the small points, look at the bigger picture and try and plan that out first. When you have that, start going into detail on the small things (in your case, individual moves or links between moves). If you still find yourself with a block, leave it and come back to it when you're in a different frame of mind (even if that frame of mind seems negative like anger... if you feel differently, you'll think differently, and maybe you'll hit on something).
Also, do take inspiration from what famous people are doing but look at it and say, how could I do that differently? How could I link things together in a way nobody has before. If you have the creative talent, the key is learning to unlock it and channel it.
Yeah, I agree it's a long answer, but it really makes a lot of sense. This has given me a lot of time to rethink how I go into choreography. I'll think about this the next time I feel like starting a new piece.
i dance in ballet, character, jazz, and hip hop and i'm 10! only if i could make a vid to show you how to!
Long Answer! Music is tough!
