The answer is C, because people who are skeptical are likely to collect several data sets and, like the scientist in the passage, use data from all the sets to reach an answer. 

Using data from multiple experiments (where the process, control group, test group, variables, and environment used is completely the same) helps scientists reach a more accurate conclusion than if they'd only used one set of data.
