A new girl started at my work today. I don't really have friends and neither does she from what she tells me. I would really like to be friends with her seeing as how our manager is putting is on the same shifts so our schedules won't clash. The only thing I'm worried about is that she is blind.. I have never even had a conversation with a blind person so have no clue what kinds of hobbies they can and can not do. I could really use some help on ideas and advice for how to handle it. I don't want to be too insensitive or over bearing.

well if she is blind your boss must think she is able to catch on to things if he hired her the best way to go about things is to watch how she works learn from her by watching like what she does and how she does it she might be able to teach some sign language you could learn alot from her being she has to see with her hands and lips moving she probably knows alot she can teach you she might have worked in the field before so she could teach you what she knows and it would probably be good for both and you could probably teach her what you know
I am a 15 year old and.am blind as well. I can surely help you out. When talking to her, say.your name, so she knows it's you. When walking with her, never leave her side and have her hold onto your elbow, so you can guide her. When.doing things, it really helps us out if you.discribe things. When showing her how to do something, use her hands. Never joke about blindness or disabilities. Don't ever go to clubs, bars or visual places like zoos or museums.
Given that you want to be a helpful and good friend, it already shows you'll be a great one. We could use nice friends like you! God bless you! ;)
