I live in Australia and sometimes I want google to only search the rest of world and not australia?

I don't know exactly how to do a search that encompasses everything BUT Australian results, I don't even think Google allows you to. But there's two possible ways I can think of.

1) Use http://www.google.com/ not http://www.google.com.au/ which makes it no longer specific to Australia but will still get results from Australia.

2) Look at 'Advanced Search' options. Click the link near the search box and then click the plus link at the bottom of the list (Date, usage rights, numeric range, and more).
There you can choose countries from the drop down menu under Region. But that just makes it specific to other countries as far as I can see, not the world apart from Australia so you still get pretty much the same results.

So far as I can see you can't lock a country out of the results.
I also checked Bing, they too seem to only allow you to change the region but not exclude results.

Pretty much, if it's really important send them an email and ask the experts, they have forums and support that caters to your specific google questions.
