I like keeping my nails long, (and I mean LONG they are between half a cm and a centimeter from the tips of my fingers) but I got my own ukulele because I like playing it. The problem is, with long nails I can’t play difficult chords because I can’t press down strings with them and cannot use the tips of my fingers. Before when I broke a nail I cut them all down and was able to play easily for a while, but since I’d had long nails a while touching things with the tips of my fingers felt weird so I just didn’t cut them and they grew back out, and I’ve grown accustomed to having long nails. I don’t know why I like having long nails but I do and I can’t seem to figure out why. What should I do: Clip them to play ukulele or give up on playing difficult songs?

Additional Notes: I’d like to try playing my favorite songs on ukulele but they have complicated chords and quick transitions.
