Pads are a must, get some painkillers as well, you will need them, cramps are seriously no joke, if you plan on going swimming, get tanpons.
Rhere are many sizes when it comes to pads, since its your first, i reccomend the normal long ones, you never know, you might leak.
Overnight pads are a must too, you (obviously) use them overnight, they are thicker and longer than the normal ones so there are less likely chances that you will leak.
I recommend wearing something tight, like tight shorts when you are sleeping to prevent the pads from shuffling around.
I started my period in September and I'm still getting used to it. I am always worried that people will see the outline of my pad because I wear a lot of leggings. Make sure you always check your pad every 3-4 hours and keep extra pads. And this might sound weird, but to keep my pads hidden i hide them in my shoes so no one sees. While you are on your period make sure you know when it is supposed to come on, be prepared for it to start earlier than it is supposed to. Also you might Fart a lot.
