Our topic is parabolas and our task is to model the path of a tennis ball, given certain measurements:
"The purpose of this task is to apply your knowledge of the shape and position of a parabola to the real life context of a winning shot in tennis. You must model the trajectory of a tennis ball going across a tennis court and find the quadratic equation associated with this parabolic path."
- indoor, single tennis
- ceiling height of 6 meters
- tennis court length of 23.7 meters
- tennis court for singles matches has width of 8.23 meters
- tennis net is 1.07 meters at net posts and 0.91 meters in the middle.
