I have FIOS, and am connected with an ethernet cord. Whnever I use the internet, it disconnects. ??

Details:

I am connected through an ethernet cord to my FIOS router downstairs. The internet itself is amazing, I get around 5-20 ping in every game I play. But, whenever I browse on the internet or start certain games, the icon in the corner displays as a red x, or "Disconnected." Even just typing this post it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. Please help! ):

Yes, I have contacted FIOS but they are really no help.
