It would be a good idea to call your provider and report it stolen and the authoritys this way you can have it turned off .So it can't be used by the person who took it if you have phone insurance this can help you replace. It you might have to pay a copay for that if you had gps you could find out where the phones at.
If you’ve lost a new mobile that you haven’t switched on yet, you can still try to block it by following these steps:
1. Contact Your Mobile Carrier
Get in touch with your mobile service provider (e.g., AT&T, Verizon, etc.). Provide them with the IMEI number (International Mobile Equipment Identity), which is usually found on the phone’s box or the purchase receipt. They can block the device from being used on their network, preventing others from making calls or using data.
2. Use Your Google or Apple Account
If your phone was an Android or iPhone and was linked to your Google or Apple account, you may be able to locate or block the device remotely once it’s turned on. Use services like Find My Device (Android) or Find My iPhone (Apple) to track, lock, or erase the phone.
3. Report the Loss to Local Authorities
File a report with the police. Provide them with the device’s details, including the IMEI number, in case it’s recovered or used fraudulently.
4. Check with the Retailer
If the phone was insured or purchased with a protection plan, contact the retailer or insurance company. They may offer solutions such as blocking the device or replacing it.
While you can’t use tracking services until the phone is switched on, blocking the IMEI through your carrier is the most effective way to prevent unauthorized use.
