and I'm having a lot of trouble with thinking of somethings that I can say. I want it to be nice and make the people sad if that makes sense (obviously) but I am scared if it sounds boring/stupid....

It's important to keep a bit of balance. Don't have it all sad but also don't say anything controversial. Pick a few personal memories, things that make you smile to remember them. Pick one that's personal just to you so that you can tell the mourners something about the person that they didn't know. Pick one that lots of people know so they'll feel a sense of familiarity. Do the same with two things that make you sad or emotional. One personal, one more well-known. It'll give everybody something to hang on.
