Most people respond to poetry because it resonates with something they recognize as true about themselves or about the universe. People also respond to poetry when they feel as if the voice they hear is one they can understand.
Think about the poems in this unit. Which poem appealed to you the most, or with which viewpoint did you most agree? Why? How did the poetic techniques help to get the message across in a way that was meaningful to you?
