... duties. At the end of the night they are require to sweep and mop the whole shop (take away premises). And I have recently discovered that the customer area was not entirely clean/not cleaned at all.
And on times when they are on duty, I rarely see them sweep or mop at the customer area. I usually trust my staff enough not to monitor them 24/7 however, this particular staff is showing signs of laziness/sneakiness.
They also have weekly and monthly duties to complete and a) on one occasion the monthly duty was not sign which is required after completion. Their response was that they had forgotten to sign it - fair enough and b) did not clean the entire section or area required and was caught on the act just the other day.
Last week, I had caught them rinsing the mop when the customer area was not touched. I asked if the cleaning was finished and they stuttered and said they still had the customer area to do. I asked why they werr rinsing the mop (a step to do before putting the cleaning equipment away) and they claimed they were just cleaning the mop as there were "lots of black stuff on it".
As of tonight, this staff was caught only sweeping a certain area of the counter area and did not bother to mop at all. There excuse was that they forgot. I had another staff on tonight and asked if they had ever forgotten to sweep or mop the customer area, their answer was no. This lazy staff had to clean the customer area before they left.
This staff will now be issued a 1st warning letter however is it possible to terminate them straight away since it's their choice to NOT do it, complete dishonesty from themself, I am paying them something they haven't done, I have every right not to trust them to have completed any of there previous duties and also causing unfairness amongst the other staff.
Some advice/opinions would be appreciated
