There is a painting of President Kennedy staring downward, and it really captures my attention. I was wondering if it was illegal to take a picture of it off the internet, and put it onto canvas at a Walmart or something? It's merely for personal use, and no money is trying to be gained.

The world has gone bonkers about copyright. When I took an art class, the museum people were so uptight that the teacher cautioned the class that we had to sneak outside just to draw the required sketch of a work, because it was forbidden to copy works in any way. In all previous history, and in all other subjects, students were expected to copy the masters.
Making a copy is not a problem. The problem is smuggling the camera into the museum and snapping the picture.
