I've been friends for this guy for a year now and today just randomly, I felt different when I hugged him, so I'm not sure if I really like him or its just a "phase". I'm really confused...

Maybe wait a bit and see if you feel the same way as you did. If you stop feeling different about him then maybe it is a phase. Try talking to him and ask him how he feels about you.
