I can't sleep at night due to itchy scalp. Do I have dandruff or just itchy scalp how can I tell?

So It all started three days ago. I woke up in the middle of the night by a random itch on my scalp. It was horrible and I couldn't sleep at all beacuse of it left me awake very early in the day. I've had dandruff for a couple of years now but very rarely itchy just dandruff. I've used natural anti dandruff head and shoulders shampoo for months now with small changes but still leaves dandruff. I didn't mind the dandruff so I just went with my day but this day when I woke up because of the itch I was like tired of it so I went to buy a new head shoulders to try out. I some other Head and Shoulders shampoo and this time when I went in the shower I scrubbed my head with the shampoo and I left it there for 5 minutes literally. I usually just leave it there for like 10 seconds then rinse it so this time I tried leaving it for more time. After the 5 min my head felt like hmmm, it felt wierd. Kinda like a burning but minty feeling and later on that night my head started itching really badly and it took a long time to sleep. I was pissed off. I am suspecting dry scalp because I left the shampoo on and it's it fault. Is it because of the shampoo making my scalp dry? If it is how the F'k am I supposed to get rid of dandruff if the anti dandruff shampoo gives me other problems which are WORSE. **HELP ME PLEASE I AM SITTING NOW ON ANOTHER DAY AT NIGHT BECAUSE I CAN'T SLEEP BECAUSE OF THE ITCH** f*K dandruff, f*K dry scalp f*K these kind of problems.

**TL;DR** My itchy scalp is keeping me up at night and I am getting seriously pissed off, suspecting the new shampoo which I let work my head for 5 minutes before I rinse making my scalp very dry and causing the itch. Usually I don't let it sit for so long hence not letting it work my hair.

Edit2: I am starting to think I don't even have dandruff only a dry scalp cause I don't have any green spots or anything wrong with my scalp cause I've let my mother check it. I don't have big flakes just kinda small ones but many. Have I been using anti dandruff shampoo all this time to only make it worse? :O

I think you should get another shampoo that has a moistureizer in it i believe thats why you have the small flakes in your hair i m thinking thats whats causing the dry flakes. The  neurtagena t-gel doesn't smell real good  but it might take care of the dry scalp problem they have a shampoo that you can get by presciption only its called k-t.If you want to check that out i wouldn't use the head and shoulders right now just to see if the other shampoo works. you could also get a conditioner that has a moisturizer in it would help the smell with the t-gel shampoo pantene conditioner would help that situation.

I have the same  problom as you like I have  tryed ever thing I can buy and nothing seem to work to the point I wanna brake dawn and cry that how bad it feels to me like I am up all night and can't sleep what so ever I had my head looked at and no had lice like come on what could it be I wanna sleep
