I accidentally stepped on it and it broke in half. I was told by my teacher to see a repair man for instruments. I looked up prices and they are very expensive. What should I do?

A new bridge costs about six bux. A shop might charge ten bux or so to do it for you, but if you are going to learn the instrument, you may as well learn how to replace a bridge.
And I suggest you get graceful and stop stepping on things.

How Much Will This Violin Repair Cost? - Connolly Music
Try finding other places to repair it that are cheaper; maybe a music teacher in your area can do it for you and this can be cheaper than taking it to be repaired at a store or a regular repairman depending on the teacher. Save up your money or get a go fund me page (I don’t know anyone who put up a page for that but what you’re asking for is cheaper than what others ask for and people could fund just about anything). Also for future uses put the instrument in a case when you don’t use it, they’re very delicate. Accidents happen so putting it in a case will make the accident easier to deal with.
