I am only now enrolled in Medicare Part A and cannot reenroll in Part B unile Jan '18;plan won't go?

...  into effect unil 18 July.  May I enroll in some sort of health plan that will cover part B costs until then?

I imagine you have to wait until you can re-enroll for Part B. Depending on where you live, I think you can have some form of medical/dental insurance on top of Medicare.
