I just turned 17 and I am currently working on losing weight myself. I started at 163.6 and I'm down to 152.4 already. What works for me is to consume between 1,200 and 1,500 calories a day. It doesn't really matter what I eat, but I do lose a little faster if I'm consuming more fruits and vegetables. And it's good to treat yourself a little everyday, that way you'll be less likely to binge eat. I walk/jog at least an hour a day, usually closer to an hour and a half. I walk/jog about 30 minutes in the morning and an hour at night, and I also work out with weights to tone up my arms. Just in the past 3 days I've lost two pounds, so for me, it is very effective. Since you're a little heavier than I am starting out, you may want to consume 1,800 calories a day so as to not put your body into shock. Now mind you, the first 5 pounds will come off very quickly, then your weight loss will slow. The goal is to not get discouraged and give up. Try at least one month, but also allow yourself a few days to eat normally, but don't overdo it. Also, water is great to drink, but diet coke is truly horrible for you, so from a heath standpoint, I would recommend cutting it out. Try out some soy milk instead. I myself drink Silk Unsweetened Organic Soymilk. It has less calories than regular milk and a LOT less sugar. Try to cut out some super processed foods everyday and replace them with healthier, more natural options. Tea and black coffee (I understand not many people enjoy their coffee black as I do, so this may not be a good option for you) are also good substitutes for flavored beverages. But don't put more than two teaspoons of sugar in either, as processed sugar is bad for your health. Hope this helps and remember that you're doing this to get healthy, not conform to society's ridiculous standards. Ciao!
You need to study some books about nutrition so you know how to eat right. For example, you want to figure out how much fat you want per day and eat it all for the first meal. Fat slows digestion so you have a steady supply of energy all day and you don't get hungry between meals.
