After glue sets, I sand off sides smooth and then cut two inches off top to make a lid and put latch on one side, and hinges on the opposite side (back) Problem is the lid ends up being up about 1/16 inches smaller than the bottom and does not fit flush all the way around. this causes a problem with the hinges because if I mount the front flush,,then the back pulls against the latch when I tighten the hinge screws because the lid is a bit smaller than the bottom. How can this be since I just cut the two apart? This is driving me crazy!
