I am a waitress at a restaurant. I make $8.00 an hour, is my boss supposed to take my tips I make?

Many places require all tips to be shared with the entire crew, but the boss can't just take them. A lot of people are getting very tired of this tip nonsense, especially tourists from other countries. They get very annoyed when they don't know how much to plan for travel and service expenses.
