... an above average player, and while my style may not be as deceptive as it could be, I am aggressive and fearless enough to get all my chips in the pot. While I would categorize my overall style as "Tight Aggressive", I take pride in the fact that I virtually never go on tilt. That being said, I do tend to get discouraged when I sometimes go through extended stretches of being "card dead". I'm not talking about a single session. I'm talking about months on end where all my hole cards seem to be eight five or jack three off-suit. After hours of looking at garbage hands, I will tend to get speculative with hands like five six or ten nine suited. I might call a small raise with such hands out of sheer boredom and frustration, only to miss the flop completely. A couple of tries like this, and my stack is soon dwindling to the point of being blinded and raked away! My question is this: What strategic adjustments can I make to stay positive and protect my chips when it seems like it's impossible to be dealt playable cards? Should I try to steal some pots in position with very marginal hands, or should I be even more patient and wait for really premium cards? There's nothing worse than having a losing session when I feel like I made no (or at least very few) mistakes. What are some things I can do to overcome extended periods where the "Poker Gods" don't seem to be gracing me with my fair share of premium hands?
Thanks,
