... seems to have disappeared. I’m really worried and don’t want to take her to the vets as I might get a massive bill but I don’t want to leave her in pain or something worse. Any suggestions as to what it could be?

Check to see if the paw is swollen. You should probably take your hamster to the vet. Make sure your hamster stays in the same mood, as different hamster moods can indicate the level of pain or discomfort it’s in. The most you can do is keep your hamster safe until you take her to the vet. Also check your hamsters cage and make sure it’s safe. She could have gotten her paw cought on something or crushed in the door. Look up guidelines for hamster cages and make sure you have merchandise that will suit your hamster and that’s safe (eg: not too high of a cage, avoid too many cage levels, etc.). If you’re low on money try a go fund me page or something similar. I don’t know anyone who’s given money for a hamster but people will give money for a lot of things so it’s worth a try. Good luck and I hope things turn out ok.
