I got 4 parakeets i starting training one of them about 2-3 day ago he steps on my finger inside the cage and is becoming friendlier to me day by day. But i have a problem even thought he steps on my finger and everything he bites me its hard and its hurts. but i think he is either playing with me or he is biting my fingers because he thinks of them like a chew toy. how can i stop this habit.

Dont listen to the previous comment they don't understand how important a budgie is. Once you buy them, their family and you can't get rid of your family. There are different reasons your budgie could be biting either because he's not comfortable with, he dosent like what your doing or he's trying to gain domenence. Either way do not punish him NO MATER WHAT. One way to prevent this is to spend more time with him. But when he does bite you gently grab his beak, hold it for three seconds then quickly let go. Then put him on your shoulder and ignore him for a minute. I hoped this help!
Do you know it's gender?if it's a girl they tend to be more aggressive.my parakeet still bites me and she it 4years old.your bird might be just playing with you like mine does.since it is still young you may be able to teach it that you don't like that.yell at the bird saying things like "no!" Or "stop!" In an angry voice, they will know and soon hopefully stop.my bird just likes pushing my buttons.
Don't yell at it loudly though, just enough for it to stop.if it continues again try giving it a kiss or say "good"something after you yell at it and it stops.
